Geography encourages interest in our local area, the wider world and the people within it. Children learn about their own roles and responsibilities. The aim is to inspire a future generation of global citizens to work together to change the world for the better.
We broaden children’s experiences by comparing people and localities. They develop skills and vocabulary needed to better understand the human and physical features of Earth. They explore how some features have changed over time and discuss the impact we can have on these.
There is a progression of map skills throughout Key Stages 1 and 2. Children use maps and atlases to identify features within:
- their local area
- the British Isles
- the seven continents
Our lessons highlight the awe-inspiring detail within the world.
Without geography, we would be lost!
