Hello Year 6,
We hope that you are keeping well as we continue to live through these uncertain times. It seems that the excitement of the first few weeks of being in lock down is now a thing of the past, and people are now keen to see what going back to some kind of normal looks like. We hope that you have been enjoying some of the work that has been set and the letters that we have been writing to you. For those of you who have been engaging with MyMaths, Times Tables Rockstars and Code for Life and sending in work from home – thank you. Your efforts are much appreciated and we are really enjoying seeing the hard work that you have been putting in.
This week we are exploring the incredible countries of Japan and India as we embark on an Asian adventure. Have a look at the document that we have created for you and complete the work that has been set to the best of your ability. You are going to be re-branding the Tokyo Olympics (which will now take place in 2021), looking at Japan's role in World War Two, and looking at Indian Rangoli patterns and of course the iconic Mahatma Gandhi.
In English, you will be reflecting on lock down and writing down some of your key thoughts and feelings: imagine reading through this again in 50 years. Sandwiched between our travels, on Wednesday afternoon, we are taking a break to acknowledge Mental Health Week 2020, which couldn't be at more apt time, could it? There is no work to complete, but we would like you to carry out a random act of kindness for a friend, family member or neighbour and we want you to take time for yourselves, too. Remember to adhere to government guidelines whilst doing this.
We hope to see you very soon. Remember, you can email your home learning to email@example.com
Stay safe and happy,
The Year 6 teachers
