Week 6

Hi Reception!

We have so enjoyed seeing all of the great learning that you sent us last week!

This week we have a new story; it’s called ‘The Great Balloon Hullabaloo’. We really look forward to seeing all of the lovely work that this book might inspire.

In phonics, we will be focusing on the digraph ‘sh.’ In maths, we will be focusing on the number 16 as well as looking at sharing, capacity and halving. To halve, we will use different items and cut them in half – make sure each piece is the same size! In writing, we will be writing lists and sentences about things that we can see from high up in the sky and the things that you have seen on your journey in the hot air balloon. For our physical activity, there is a song to sing along to and create different sounds to go with the music. There is also the opportunity to make pizza, write a list of ingredients, and choose your favourite toppings to put on your pizza.

There has been so much amazing learning uploaded onto Tapestry; we have really enjoyed seeing what you have all been getting up to. There have been a range of amazing achievements! We have seen some wonderful measuring and creative ways to measure using pillows and DVD cases! Evil Pea made an appearance to hide phonics and the ‘oa’ digraph but was defeated when the sounds were found to make a word when the sounds were put together. We saw some boats that have been made and a boat made out of Lego that was being tested to see whether it could sink or float.  We have also seen lots of you being active, doing family PE lessons with Joe Wicks, going for walks in the forest and going on bike rides and observing nature. It has been delightful to see so many of your faces on Tapestry, enjoying family time and learning in fun, meaningful ways. We have seen delicious cake baking and lollies being made with a chocolate milkshake and it’s good to see many of you are still helping your parents with the chores around the house, which must make you feel proud that you are being helpful and kind.

Please do continue to send us your photos and videos - we are so proud of what we’re seeing.

We look forward to seeing what you get up to this week and sending comments back to you.

Stay safe, have fun and keep smiling.
