Term 6 week 7

Hello Year 2 (nearly Year 3),

This is your final letter of the 2019-2020 school year! We can’t believe it – what an unusual one it has been! As strange as the circumstances have been over the past few months, we have really enjoyed the communication with you. Receiving your emails and speaking to you on the phone has been a different experience but one that we have all really enjoyed! However, we have missed you all lots and are so sad that we couldn’t finish the year with you all. We only got to spend the first part of the year with you in our classes but we thoroughly enjoyed every minute! We are now really looking forward to seeing you around the school in September when you are in Year 3! :-)

Over the next two weeks, you will be meeting your new Year 3 teachers and we can imagine you are feeling very excited and some of you may be a little nervous! Enjoy it, ask all the questions you have and we hope you enjoy being back in school even if it is for a short period of time. It will be a great opportunity for you to see some of your friends before the summer holidays and will be wonderful for you to meet your teacher back in school so that you are feeling excited and ready for September when it is time to return to school.

Some of your work for this week is based around transition, giving you the chance to write a letter to your new teacher telling them some more information about you. They will love to read these over the summer to learn more about you before you are in their class in the new school year. Make sure you include as much as you can – including interests and things you enjoy, as well as information about how you learn and what helps you.

Over the holidays, if you would like to continue some learning at home, you can use some of the websites that we have been using such as Times Table Rockstars, MyMaths and Rising Stars. This will mean you can continue to practise your reading and your maths facts ready for Year 3.

We hope you have a wonderful summer with your families and friends; we miss you all lots and can’t wait to see you around school in September when we are sure we will hardly recognise you because you will be looking so grown up! J

Take care, stay safe and keep smiling
