Physical Education Overview and Skills

At Telscombe Cliffs Community Primary School, our aim is to inspire children to have a love of physical activity and keeping healthy both in an out of school. If they develop this passion as children, they are more likely to continue it into adulthood. This is of fundamental importance particularly with health and fitness being of such importance in our day to day lives. The aim is to equip children with the skills, knowledge and desire to live healthy active lives.

As of September 2018, we have been following the scheme Real PE which is a new, positive and inclusive culture of teaching PE. It covers all areas of the PE National Curriculum.

Our unique, child-centred approach transforms how we teach PE to engage and challenge every child. This approach creates habits and develops essential behaviours, physical literacy, emotional and thinking skills in every child.

There are six ability cogs to focus on which cover the six school terms. Each cog focuses on essential fundamental movement skills as shown in the table above.
