Music Overview and Skills

At Telscombe Cliffs Community Primary School, we strive to provide the children with a love of music. Children are taught weekly music lessons which embrace the aims of the National Curriculum to ‘inspire pupils to develop a love of music and their talent as musicians.’

In addition to this, the children come together weekly in their phases to celebrate their learning and proudly sing to an audience of parents and teachers. The children have fun and interactive singing assemblies each week to learn new songs and feel uplifted and positive about themselves and their learning.

We are proud to have a wonderful junior choir lead by an enthusiastic teacher who meets weekly to practise new songs and develop children’s singing skills. For children who have been identified as having greater interest in playing a musical instrument they are encouraged to have smaller group lessons in order to play the violin with a visiting specialist teacher.

We have a broad and exciting range of tuned and untuned instruments which the children have the opportunity to explore and play.
